Now, the birth is not surprising at all to us. Human beings can be easily involved in the birth, once considered the pale of God. People create and prolong the life with technologies and capital at the position of God. Furthermore, individuals can choose whether giving up the life or not and that is not considered seriously at all. Human freedom has been extremely extended and materials take top priority. The thought, that we can create and remove the life as we like, results from the paralysis of peripheral nerves, which comes from the provocative experiences through mammonism, extreme liberalism and mass media. Based on the awareness of these problems, Kim, Kyung-ok makes people rethink about the nobility of the life and the underlying existence of all living things by modeling her internal inspirations, experienced by the nature. In other words, she is trying to find out the losing origin of life in the nature.
The major factor is 'interaction', which she found out in the origin of life. With the interaction, the nature experiences creation and extinction. This circulation begins from the flow of understanding and tolerance, essential qualities of the nature. The interaction between the creation and extinction makes up the nature. In fact, the interaction in nature is not limited to only the creation and extinction. There are lots of relations, which accept and unite each other even though sometimes in conflict, in the nature such as men and women, yin and yang and materials and non-materials. The essence of life in the nature, which she wants to express in her works, is the essential life force of all things in the universe. She expresses it formatively by bringing it into her inner side and condensing and visualizing it.
The iconology of sexual symbol in her works does not break the mold of the relationship and interaction. Union between men and women is the essential thing for the creation. However, her work does not divide masculine and feminine form and limit the union to only the sexual relationship. This is not a just erotic form but a process of creation. As the sexual symbol of men and women unites with each other, she re-symbolizes the life and principle of life, made by interaction, through sexual symbols, whose identities are not clear. The union between men and women is the essential factor of creation which makes creation and extinction repeatedly, as mentioned above.
Kim, Kyung-ok tries to seek the awareness of the original existence and truth about the essence, based on the inner inspirations, which can be gotten from the nature. She approaches to the area of creation and extinction, which people arrogantly think that they can conquer soon, by uniting, changing and distorting formative factors which she subjectively assumes animals and plants might have. To her, this area is not the thing which we should conquer or just watches the state of freedom. Her work, which finds out the origin of life in the nature, is the expression of wonder about the essential existence of life. Considering the context, individual's lives are just parts of creation and extinction, made by various interactions, done in the nature. With this exhibit, we can find the essence of organic lives, being born in the nature not just beautiful scenes or superficial forms and then, we can find out ourselves, located in the interactional relationships.
